Troubleshooting
If nothing here fixes it, send us your logs. They usually tell us what went wrong.
Phones won't connect (Windows)
Windows Firewall usually blocks the phone. Try these in order, and test your phone after each one.
1. Same Wi-Fi
Your phone and your PC must use the same Wi-Fi. Turn off mobile data and any VPN on the phone and the PC. A "guest" Wi-Fi won't work.
2. Press Allow phones
The first time you open the game it asks Allow phones to connect?. Press Allow, then press Yes when Windows asks for permission.
Missed it? Open the game's Settings and press Allow phones. Same thing: press Yes when Windows asks.
3. Paste this into PowerShell
- Press the Start button and type
PowerShell. - Right-click Windows PowerShell and choose Run as administrator. Press Yes.
- Copy these two lines, paste them in the blue window (right-click pastes), and press Enter:
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Just Dance Best phones UDP" -Direction Inbound -Protocol UDP -LocalPort 6000 -Action Allow -Profile Any
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Just Dance Best phones TCP" -Direction Inbound -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 8080,8081,8082 -Action Allow -Profile Any
Lots of text appears. That is fine. Close the window and try your phone again.
4. Make your Wi-Fi "Private"
Same PowerShell window as above. Paste this line and press Enter:
Get-NetConnectionProfile | Set-NetConnectionProfile -NetworkCategory Private
Still nothing
- Do you have an antivirus like Norton, Kaspersky or Avast? It has its own firewall. Turn that off for a minute and test.
- Restart your router, then the game, then the controller app.
- Send us your logs.
Joy-Con or Wii Remotes don't show up
Pairing steps for each system are in Controllers. The usual causes:
- The controller isn't shown as Connected in your Bluetooth settings. Pair it first (Joy-Con, and Wii Remotes on Windows).
- On Windows, the game was started without RyuLauncher. The launcher switches on Wii Remote support; starting the exe yourself leaves it off.
- On macOS, Bluetooth permission was refused. See macOS permissions.
- Nobody has passed the "how will you play" screen yet. Controllers only join after it.
Send us your logs
The game writes a log every time it runs. Send us the newest one before you start the game again, because the next run starts a new log.
Windows. Hold the Windows key and press R. Paste this and press Enter:
%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Just Dance Best\logs
The folder is C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Just Dance Best\logs.
macOS. In Finder choose Go, Go to Folder, and paste:
~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/Just Dance Best/logs
Zip the newest file or two (godot.log is the current one) and send them on our Discord with:
- what you did and what happened instead
- your system (Windows or macOS and its version)
- the game and launcher versions
- for a controller problem: which controller, and what the firewall steps above showed
